Zakaria on Charlie Rose (August 10, 2010) talks about the challenge of American democracy, pointing out that the first amendment in the Bill of Rights states the freedom of religion. He believes Islam is self-limiting and does not pose serious threat to the world peace, while noting that the real clash of civilizations is happening within Islam itself.

I have read the bible and quran and parts of talmud. I became Muslim. There is no compulsion in islam, you have to believe in God and submit to God yourself not to people or mankind. All the quotations of killing are within their context not indiscriminate like the bible or talmud which even state 'kill the elderly, children, women and cattle". Wrong aim

Its not like the bible or talmud which order indiscriminate killing because thats what they do. The quran talks about certain situations of war.

@ahyahyahy 1) Im an Atheist 2) I never said anything about Tanach or Talmud,Im well aware they are full of 'kill' verses just like Quran. 3)Here are just a few 'kill' verses I looked up in Quran in less than 2 minutes...Quran8:12.....Quran2­:191-193....Quran5:33.... and that is b4 i even got to chapter 9 which is riddled with violence...lol. Ive read BookOfTao,Confucious,BahgvadGi­ta,Tanach+Talmud,Gospels,Quran and many Hadiths and studied Buddhism.Now stop your sophistry and read ur own Quran

@ahyahyahy Quran and Hadiths contain 5600+ verses ordering believers to kill. 109 from Quran the rest from Hadiths. By contrast the BookOfTao,the NewTestament or Gospels,the philosophy of Confucious and the teachings of the Buddha contain ZERO 'kill' verses.. Ask yourself:: If their is a supernatural god-king do you think he/she/it would be giving instructions to kill? Muhammad wasnt called the 'false prophet' by the Jews of Yathrib for nothing.
