Today, the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Capital Markets, Insurance, and Government Sponsored Enterprises held a hearing, 'Perspectives on Systemic Risk.' This is the first in a series of hearings to examine how to improve the ability of the government to prevent private sector activities from putting at risk the stability of the U.S. economy. The hearing will assist the Financial Services Committee in crafting legislation to create a systemic risk regulator for the financial services industry.

  • And it's gov't who created CDS and CDO... That is well known...

It's not fhe Govt who put the world in the mess, it's the banker who made CDO out of subprime mortgage to get rid of the shitty mortgage they knew would not pay out.

At a given point, they were even happy to have more mortage so they would be able to put more CDO on the market.

  • Heres a suggestion for systematic risk regulation, and not one useless hearing is required: recall Congress.

  • What a friggin joke. The ONLY people who have put this economy at risk is the FEDERAL GOV. The same pompous, pork loving, socialists holding these hearings. You want to secure our economy? Get rid of the likes of Dodd, Frank, Schumer and Pelosi. It was democrats forcing socialism, and democrats sleeping on the job that put us at risk. More piglosi fail
