A hymn about the life of Christ, generally sung around Christmas time.

Tune: KINGSFOLD C.M.D.

O sing a song of Bethlehem, Of shepherds watching there
And of the news that came to them From angels in the air:
The light that shone on Bethlehem Fills all the world today;
Of Jesus' birth and peace on earth The angles sing always.

O sing a song of Nazareth, Of sunny days of joy,
O sing of fragrant flowers' breath, and of the sinless Boy:
for now the flowers on Nazareth In every heart may grow;
Now spreads the fame of His dear name On all the winds that blow.

O sing a song of Galilee, Of lake and woods and hill,
Of Him who walked upon the sea And bade the waves be still:
For though like waves on Galilee, Dark seas of trouble roll,
When faith has heard the Master's word, Falls peace upon the soul.

O sing a song of Calvary, Its glory and dismay;
Of Him who hung upon the tree, And took our sins away:
For He who died on Calvary Is risen from the grave!
And Christ our Lord, by heav'n adored, Is mighty now to save!

  • omgosh. i had to sing this song in the 2nd grade in FRENCH! hahaha.

  • lol..i never heard it in french b4..or sung by 2nd graders :D thx for watching.

  • i don't recall ever hearing that music before. it sounds kind of like funeral music.

    if you're into religion, then listen up. about 5 years ago, i switched from baptist to Catholic. the Christian Church had to exist ever since Apostolic days, and no baptist or protestant sect has been around long enough to qualify. also it's important to have pastors that can perform the Lord's Supper, by transforming the bread and juice into Christ's flesh and blood.

  • i love songs in minor keys (gives it that dark mysterious sound) iv always wanted to be catholic, was raised in the presbyterian and baptist church. currently in the methodist church, my mother would burst into flames if i became catholic (baptists believe catholics are hell-bound). no matter what church i goto im a Christian who lvs God so i'll probly stay where i am. would be very hard to leave this church, very close=knit congregation.

  • My solo was g8 everyone clapped real loud

  • i have 2 sing a solo in this 2morrow at my carol service

  • I believe there was the Protestant Revolution for a reason!

  • yes you are correct, this does form part of the Five Variations of Dives and Lazarus.

  • The tune is "Kingsfold", an english melody arranged by Ralph Vaughn Williams in 1906.

  • Is it my imagination, or does this song sound exactly like Ralph Vaughn William's Five Variations of Dives and Lazarus?

    If so, what is the actual name of the tune itself?
