Rocket Mass Heater ( SmartSplitter - making the small stuff for the ember bed )

I tried once before to show how I use the SmartSplitter to prepare small easy-to-burn pieces of wood which I use to quickly build up my ember bed. The ember bed, I believe, is a very important part of the success of this heater design and if it's kept healthy, hot and full of embers, promotes more efficient combustion and a healthy fire thru-out the heater.

very functional. Just right for inside work with the wood I use in the heater. Most commonly now, we use 8" wood horizontally down inside the heater and similar sized wood vertically in the ash bed. This splitter is just what the doctor ordered, so to speak.
