  • Col. John Ripley in his May 4, '93 testimony for the House armed Services Committee said "Homosexuals constantly focus on themselves; their so called needs, what they want, their entitlements, their rights etc.; they never talk about the good of the unit. It is this constant focus on themselves; the inability to subjugate or to subordinate their own personal desire for the good of the unit; this is an instant indicator of trouble in combat; and frankly, even not in combat."

  • @billyslo87 And in February of 2010 Admiral Mike Mullen said "it is my personal belief that allowing gays and lesbians to serve openly would be the right thing to do. No matter how I look at the issue, I cannot escape being troubled by the fact that we have in place a policy which forces young men and women to lie about who they are in order to defend their fellow citizens. For me, personally, it comes down to integrity -- theirs as individuals and ours as an institution."

  • So if human beings in Europe, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Philippines, Mexico, Argentina, Bolivia, etc, can do it in accepting Gays and Bisexuals in the military, then so can America.

  • @usamericanz You're wrong. The cultures of America and the European countries are very much the SAME. Hello, kilts, bagpipes, berets, oktoberfest, beer, wine, catholic churches, universities, Renaissance Festivals, Pizza, Spaghetti, Organized Military, Republic, Democracy, etc. weren't all original in America dumbass. They've all originated in Europe, with pilgrims and other European immigrants coming to the "New World" and bringing the very same culture to America. Grow up already

  • @jusitke07 i will defer to your expertise on stupidity and naivete, but i'm still not sure why you think America = Europe when it is plainly obvious to anyone with an IQ above retard that the two are completely different. The cultures are NOT the same, at all. I don't know why you would even try to pretend they were. Are there influences and similarities? Sure...but only a dope-smoking clueless moron thinks you can compare the US military to militaries in European countries.

  • it's amazing how stupid and naive some people can be. isn't that right usamericanz?

  • @usamericanz Oh please, as if American kids don't drink beer before the legal age anyway, right? DUH. And what i'm saying with American culture saturated with the use of Bagpipes, kilts, eating pizza, weiner schnitzel, pretzel, going to churches and universities etc.;..i'm actually saying that America's culture is the same as European....DUH.

  • @TheAbsurdHero mullen is gay.

  • @jusitke07 i was using the drinking age difference to show how our culture in America is different than that of Europe....um, DUH? Just because europeans have no problem with children drinking alcohol doesn't mean the US feels the same. I'm not sure why you think this has anything to do with pizza or wiener schnitzel...maybe you can find someone with a modicum of intelligence to post for you? That'd be great. Good luck.

  • @usamericanz What does minors drinking in Europe vs USA have anything to do with Gays in the military? Apples and oranges.

If we have a "DIFFERENT" culture here, then do tell me where did kilts, bagpipes, pizza, croissant, knitting, churches, universities, wiener schnitzel, etc, all come from? All originated in USA or Europe? Pick one

  • @jusitke07 sure, there are other cultures in the world...in fact, in many places in Europe, those we would consider "minors" under the law are allowed to drink. I'm sorry, but I don't think the fact that a 16-year-old in Belgium gets to drink automatically means it's a good idea for a 16-year-old in Ohio to drink. We have a DIFFERENT culture here. It's not better, it's not worse, it's just different. Same with gays.....we have a different culture here. You can't compare Europe to America.
