From the days when shorts were short, and the players smoked in the dug-outs. There was no shortage of goals during Luton's 82/83 season, and this game was no exception as Paul Walsh, Brian Stein (2), and Mal Donaghy all find the net for the Hatters.
for spring break i was visiting my cousin in bournemouth and he plays for the bournemouth academy and mason walsh...paul walshs son is on his team and i met paul walsh.....awesome

Interesting also to note that Notts County were in Divison One at the time, but now languish in League Two (old Division Four) - how times can change!

Apart from Watford 8 Sunderland 0, some other high-scoring games on 25/9/82 were:
Liverpool 5 Southampton 0
Notts County 0 Ipswich 6
Coventry 4 Evetton 2
Spurs 4 Forest 1
West Ham 4 Man. City 1
Altogether a total of 50 goals were scored, the introduction of 3 points for a win certainly seemed to encourage more attacking football.

Even though it was a long time ago, I seem to recall that MOTD showed Spurs v Forest (4-1), also some Div. 2 game (can't remember which).

No it wasn't
United v Arsenal wasn't even on telly, as both sides wore their sponsored shirts, something prohibited for tv at the time

Yes, I'd forgotten that! Also, Liverpool got five, Ipswich got six, and there were plenty of fours. Match of the Day's main game was Man Utd v Arsenal. Score? 0-0 :(

That was a crazy day with high scoring games everywhere (Watford beat Sunderland 8-0 the same afternoon). Great football, great memories.
