After all... metal detectors are used at every American airport, military base and government agency. Kids and parents could swipe a badge to get through gates, a metal detector would check each person. I've worked under such conditions for years it's no big deal.

I'm all for the 2nd Amendment. However, hiring gun toting security guards has already proved to fail...many of the schools already attacked "had" arm guards. Why are there not metal detectors that are strategically placed outside of schools to act as a buffer zone...providing enough time to secure a school in lockdown? That makes the most sense. Of course the NRA would love to support more guns being used, that is not the answer, we don't live in the Wild West.

Why the generalizations with the you this and you that as you replied to me, LucyDukeSeven and probably a few others. You obviously don't understand that the government doesn't represent everyone. "Nutters" are the only line between freedom and dictatorship in the US. But being that you're not from here you won't be able to understand that. Are you French, by the way?

Not entirely, part of the debate is people wanting to ban guns. That shows gun bans do not work for that purpose. The focus here needs to be on the cause of murder and mass murder incidents, not the tools used in them. That is like going to the doctor for a cure for a cough, and he gives you a cough suppressant, the cough is gone, but he missed that you have lung disease. Address the mental health issues here and murder rates drop more, as well as mass murder. SSRI increases in suicidal thoughts

ok but thats a distraction from murder to crime. of course it is stupid to say that guns promote crime, the real issue here is gun to murder and mass murder incidents.

That is my point here. The stats show the crime is BETTER than people are making it out to be. The excuse normally is guns make it worse, when they obviously don't. The real issue is the mental state of the country here. The solution is to always give someone a pill, or have someone else take care of the mentally ill for us. That does not work, and never will work. The mentally ill are ALL each of our problems.
