Highlights from my recent rebuild of a 4L60E transmission from my 1999 GMC Sierra 4.3 V6. Feel free to post if you have any questions!

Here is the link I mention in the video to an exhaustive walkthrough of the clutch pack rebuilds:

  • hello this is helping out a lot thank you do you have to take off the servo to take the pump off i need to change the pump and not sure if i got to take out the servo thank

  • @rayjr440rt I'm not sure if you must remove the servo before removing the pump, but it is very easy and I would recommend it.

  • Very well done video. If you don't mind me asking for a little advise, I have a 2000 Trans Am with the 4l60e . For some time it seemed like it was slipping just a little bit while turning a corner. Now, second gear is gone completely ,all other gears are fine, it will go to third eventually, or I can get it into third by letting off the gas and then reapplying the gas. TC lockup is normal, and the fluid is not burnt at all. Could this be the 2-4 servo and or the 2-4 band and input drum worn?

  • @centerstageproductio That's a tough one. 2-4 band might be worn, but it goes into 4th fine right? I hate to say you are due for a rebuild if it is something else, but that's what it seems like.

  • I thought the video was very well done, my hats off to you. But please dont think Im being rude when I say you are setting up a death trap with those jack stands on the crossmember like that. They are Y shaped for a reason, I understand you need maximum lift out of them for a trans swap but please, for your safety, dont put the crossmember on "top" of the Y!!!!!!! I am a retired mechanic and I just dont want you to get hurt or killed. But aside from that I thought it was a really good video.

  • @davecross1 Thanks I will keep that in mind.

  • obst41 , Thank You, and yep, all gears are perfect, just second is gone. I have a rebuild kit, but the one and only thing I have never done is rebuild a trans, and if theres a more simple fix like the servo, or just the band ,I would rather keep it simple, and save the rebuild kit for when I DO need new clutches and what not. But yeah, the trans is perfect except for 2nd gear.

  • @memorycdrew Removed the starter, it is virtually impossible to do it through that access port.

  • Did you have to remove your starter to get to the tc bolts or did you use the circular access window-thing?

  • @themasterazz Go to Ebay, look up top line transmission parts , if you dont see what you need just drop them an e-mail @ they will list it.
