It´s me again trying to play something bluesy like. At the end, as you can hear, lack of inspiration. I play with EL MAYA,my first electric guitar. It´s made in 80´s in Kobe Japan. It has unique body( triple cut). Neck is very comftable, Dimarzios are very warm.

  • wooh very nice improv.

He i bought that guitar a few weeks ago, but i cant find much about it. can you tell me about it?

  • EL maya are very good guitars. The wood is excellent, pickups are dimarzio, brasilian rosewood... Guitars made in Japan are awesome. I bought Greco Les Paul MIJ ( Randy Rhoads model)made in 1983.Tone and playability on both guitars are very similiar. On El Maya is a bit brighter because it has an ash body. Both guitars have solid body and are pretty heavy. I found many guitars made in Japan are better than those made in USA and also a lot cheaper.

  • Hi, interesting sound! Which one is better guitar: El Maya or Greco Randy R..? El Maya is probably very rare - I see it in action first time:) Are you interested about selling it ?

  • Yes, El Maya guiatrs are very rare. As I said, both guitars are very comfortable to play but have diefferent caracter. GRECO has that tipical Les Paul sound. El Maya is a bit brighter and more powerful due to dimarzio pickups. It also has a thiner neck and lower action.

  • Headstock say elmaya original

  • anybody know anthing about the Elmaya Rhoads copy?

  • I put together an extensive information about EL-MAYA and Bambu guitars here:

    ibanezcollectors. com/forum/miscellaneous/el-maya-top-of-the-line-ibanez-artist-killer-t20346/msg194072/#msg194072

    Hope you find it useful.

  • Do you have any serials from your ElMaya?

I just got ElMaya FutureFour (AKA EM1300 model),

and I found some numbers in neck pickup cavity but hard to read.

Pickup numbers say that is either made in made in May 1970's, or May 1980's.

I don't know if they were around in 70's.

Can you ready your number ,from the pickups or neck cavity and post it here?

    Thanks!

Here is EL Maya 1500 (holy crap!!)

  • The sound of these guitars is, plain and simple, phenomenal! The strats sound like Hendrix/Blackmore recordings, the Teles like Buchanan/Burton signature tones. LesPauls are BASSY, but not muddy. When it comes to the original model, things get a bit scarry. First of all, this guitar sounds beautiful ACOUSTICALLY! Very loud. The acoustic EQ is balanced nicely and notes ring CRISP. When plugged in, everything just gets amplified.

  • ... The pickups are two humbuckers with a three way toggle switch and four knobs- Two volumes and two tones. The three way switch is located on the treble horn. The number of frets is 22 and they are JUMBO in size. The finishes were offered in natural, wine red transparent and black. There is also a bolt-on version of this beauty.

  • ... The headstock is tilted and has three tuners on each side. The neck is a three peace, maple/rosewood/maple construction. The fingerboard is bound BRAZILIAN rosewood with brass dot inlays. The hardware is gold with brass saddles and nut. The body is a triple cutaway Les Paul style. The third cut is at the end of the instrument behind the bridge. The body is herringbone bound and has three strap buttons.

  • ...The original El Maya body style is by far the most valuable gem this company had to offer and is my very favorite instrument ever! The company ceased to exist before making a commercial mark... Unlike the copy models that were in features true to the originals, the El Diablo/FutureFour/Masterclass as this model was called, was in entirety original. It has the NECH THRU BODY construction, carved top and the STRING THRU BODY bridge. The scale lenght is 25.5; like a Fender.

  • El Maya guitars are high quality Japanes made instruments. The models offered include Strats, Teles, Les Pauls and originals. The Maya Strats are extremely true to the Fender recipe. In fact, Most post '60s Fenders don't measure up to them. Same with Teles. When it comes to Les Pauls they offered both the bolt-on and set-ins. These Pauls were quite a bit lighter than most '70s copies and sounded and played a whole lot better! Attention to details was great.
