The Mexicans call the stomach/tripe used for their menudo recipe as 'menudo' because it is used mainly for that soup. Their soup did not get it's name from the stomach/tripe ingredient as some would think. It is the other way round. The Mexican soup Menudo was named so because the ingredients are cut up in small pieces. The same way, the Filipino STEW is named because the ingredients are cut up in small pieces. People in Spain would not understand you if you call stomach/tripe as 'menudo'.

tama po kayo..dapat po meron pang igigisa dito pero may garlic and onions na po ang Mama Sita's Menudo Mix eh..kaya di na po kelangan lagyan pa ng bawang at sibuyas..mas makakatipid pa kayo.thanks ofr the post!
