The Red Skelton Show enjoyed a television run of almost two decades, from the early 1950s through the early 1970s, receiving three Emmy Awards. It was second to Gunsmoke (1955-1975) and third to The Ed Sullivan Show (19481971) in the ratings during that time. Red Skelton was a comic genius who was dearly loved by the American viewing audience.
Archie Moore appears in this episode. Moore was light heavyweight world boxing champion between 1952 and 1959 (and again in 1961) and had one of the longest professional careers in the history of boxing. Moore still holds the record for the most career knockouts by any boxer, at 145.
