Distinguished professor, Dr. John Durham Peters, was invited to McGill University this week as a Beaverbrook Visiting Scholar. As part of his visit, Dr. Peters delivered a provocative lecture on "Free speech in a global era", on 12 March at the Redpath Museum. The lecture focused on the principles and origins of free speech, the philosophical underpinnings of liberalism, and the ways in which communication has been transformed under globalization and resurgent religion. The lecture was followed by a question and answer session.
