5:10-5:20 should NOT have gotten away so easy for intentionally trying something like that. Luck wasted on the foolish.

Yep! Word is he was trying to stunt around for TV, touching the car's roof, etc for a TV show in France. (I THINK) that's a "Trinidad" or "Tobago" Socata. And you're RIGHT- he lucked out! I can't believe that stupid stunt. He got away with only some right wingtip damage, a pretty-much-destroyed right main gear, and if you look closely, you can see he got a wicked propeller strike too. Hopefully he'll have to teardown the engine too. That's an EXPENSIVE way to get a lesson! Idiot.

Thank you for the background info. Great compilations you have, I've enjoyed watching them. One question out of morbid curiousity- ever experience a serious mishap yourself? Not necessarily been seriously hurt, maybe just totalled the machine, and had that SOUND in your mind rattling your nerves for a few days after.

Looking back at my youth I can count at least five such events, one with notable injuries. 3 vehicles a total loss, 2 of those I was faultless. (3/5 were all me :-)

Nope. 30 yrs of accident-free flying. I read all the crash reports because

they keep me out of trouble. I learned to fly right at driver's license time, (age 17) and have never even run a CAR out of gas! Scared the holy hell out of myself a few times, but what pilot hasn't? I can still feel the cold water on my spine of that uncontrollable spin I got into once- I managed to pull 'er out at about 500" AGL. Many near collision w/ birds, too!

Now at age 48 I drive a Honda Passport, haven't put a scratch on a car or gotten a moving violation since 1988, but those days of piss and vinegar in my blood are still fresh memories. I slowed down when a good friend who had the same bike I did (Yamaha FJ1100) had his life changed forever in a crippling head on. Was in the hospital a year doing reconstructive surgeries. The SOUND mentioned is experienced when walking away unscathed from a destroyed machine. It's SO loud.

Yeah! Guess everybody has to scare themselves when young., what pilot or motojock hasn't? I'd NEVER ride a motorcycle- too fast, too close to the ground! And yer right- keeping all 3 axes where you want to go is quite a challenge. I'd let go of all the controls when trimmed out and see how long it took to go into a howling dive. Not long!

I was an avionics tech in the Navy from '79-83 (fire control, F-4 Phantom N, J & S variants) and thought I knew a little about flying, then I went up in a friend's Cessna 182, fun but amazingly hard just to fly the thing straight on our designated heading on a clear blue sky day- respect for pilots! I used to be into fast cars and bikes and had that daredevil wild hair, saturday nights we "trolled for cops" on our literbikes as we called them. Been in over 20 high speed pursuits.
