  • Some of the shots are pure "Hitchcock", I think, don't you?... A frothy mix of sweet exhiliaration and pure evil... How wonderfully bizarre... and in a Julie Andrews musical, no less!

  • This is such a unique film... a satirical valentine to the crazy twenties... Gay (and I mean that in the old-fashioned way), but also weird and creepy, too... and with Beatrice Lillie, of all people (who was a big star during that very period, way back then!) so sinister and funny, which is a really hard thing to pull off, I think... Kudos to her! Lillie was one of a kind.
