Touchstone home video in high-tone
The one in the US was from Late 1987-2004
The other one was from 1986-Late1987, in UK 1986-1993 maybe.

@Thesurus05 Oh have no idea, this is going back 12 years ago. Think it was one we rented out the local newsagents that used to have a video rental section.

@Thesurus05 That's the release date for the sell-thru tape. I own over 600 ex rentals, so I know what year a certain one is from.

Great BT advert. Did rental tapes generally have more adverts on them than retails?

@Halfbricktv2 I think it was more of a Music Video than an advert. That's when BT were trying to be 'cool' in order to attract the attention of costumers. :)
And I think rental tapes did have more adverts on them than ordinary retail tapes. I don't remember adverts being on VHS releases until after 1993.

@Thesurus05 I remember the first one i seen on a retail video tape was that Bounty advert, and thought 'That's odd' to see an advert on such a tape lol.
The BT promotion thingy reminds me of the good old days of seeing a phonebox on every street corner.

@Halfbricktv2 Just out of interest, what tape was it?
Thesurus05 1 year ago
@Halfbricktv2 I think I know the reason why rental VHS tapes had more adverts and trailers than retail VHS tapes. It was a way to tantalize customers to rent/purchase more VHS tapes. With the extensive array of trailers on a rental VHS, the movies shown would usually entice more consumers to rent VHS tapes. As for the adverts, it was a way for companies to make more profit by encompassing advertisements on VHS tapes as this would also entice consumers into purchasing their products. :)
