Part Five:

Turning Your Captivity, What is the extent of YOUR brain injury?, Returning to Work, Advice for Caregivers, Prognosis [1]

This video, '"You Look Great!" - Inside a Traumatic Brain Injury', tells the story of trying to recover from an injury that in some ways is invisible to the outside world. My hope is that fellow sufferers find comfort that they are not alone in their injury, and that they learn ways of describing what they're going through to their families, friends, and caregivers.

  • Your videos are much more than useful. You describe the blueprint of a substantial portion of my TBI in a way that I am unable to articulate even though I understand the difficulty. :-)

  • I can't tell you how happy I am to hear that. Your response is exactly why Chris and I worked on this project. And even though you and I are strangers, what we have in common makes us long-distance friends. Stay strong, and in the words of a great Van Morrison song, "Carry On Regardless" . . .

  • I have been eagerly awaiting part 5. I check everyday. I just keep saying to my husband that is just like me. He says when are they going to make a video for the caregivers. Your description of the"Catch 22" problem was spot on!!! So many thanks for all of this effort. I know that it requires so many individual steps to put something like this together. Seems overwhelming to me. Thanks for speaking for all of us.

  • Hi there, thanks so much. I appreciate your enthusiasm. My son Chris spent many hours working on these, and Part 6 is almost ready for uploading. I'm happy you're finding these videos useful.

  • Thank you so much for clearly explaning the "catch 22" and some people not understanding pushing your limits equals payback time later. I have been living in the dark now for over a year and it's great to have this video explaining why doctors aren't doing more. Oh, have the doctors contributed any of your whiplash to your iTBI? I have been in several car accidents (not related 2 TBI), which have left me with chronic neck and I am just wondering if neck problems contributes to the symptoms.

  • If I may add - it would appear that you began your series (at least the date of your profile here) on my birthday. Best birthday present I ever received from a stranger.
