Curious About Curling part 2

In the starkly exposed, lightning struck world that had overcome the winter of 2002, I left my small cabin in Emma, Colorado on a quest to attend the WInter Olympics in Salt Lake City, and to see me some Curling. I had watched the Nagano games four years earlier from a bar stool in California, forever changed by the men and women that I saw plying the icy lanes of Japan. I had to know. I spent a week sleeping in the back of my trusty pickup, Whitey Ford, with snow falling and threatening to freeze or suffocate me. I charged hard into the Utah nightlife, living wild scenes with country rock bands night after night. By day though, I was a man on a mission (no pun, I swear!) Just what on Earth is this Curling?
