  • The great thing about him ws he willingness to tackle, to work to play without fouling. Of course he ws a wizard, a phenomenal talent but he was so honest and brave. Unique

  • I was at this game, then very young, and the first international I had been to.

I remember the great roar at the goal. Winsor park was absolutely full.

The penalty was strange, and still not clear why it was given.

I remember Best's boot coming off, and he took a corner with his left foot without hesitation.

    Great memories.

  • ''This man is a genius ''

  • 3:45, i mean look at that you won't get a better chance set up for you and that player fucked it. no offense to the NI lads, but if George had better players around him he would have been indescribable.

  • @eire32freedom what about the views of the majority of northeners ?

  • the problem was the rest of the team were shite

  • Great upload - the old Home International Championship, I think. Amazing to see Pat Jennings in goal - 19 years before he played in a World Cup in Mexico... the late Derek Dougan too. And the Scots even have a half decent keeper - would've been 3 or 4 nil but for him :-) Is this the same Scottish team that beat the English World Cup winners at Wembley in their first match there after their triumph ??

  • Thank-you

  • Well you're quite misunderstanding the situation. The Irish Football Association is the original governing body for football in Ireland - when the Republic of Ireland split from the United Kingdom, it created a new body for a new country, the Football Association of Ireland. Both countries claimed the name of Ireland, one being the new Republic, the other the old Kingdom. I prefer to call the one 'Southern' and the other 'Northern,' to be perfectly honest.

  • I was at this game - a 10 year old English lad cheering on Northern Ireland - it's still the greatest individual performance I've ever seen on a football pitch.....

  • @eire32freedom You are correct when you mention the All Ireland Rugby team. There should be an All Ireland Soccer team also. But as things stand, it is Northern Ireland, the team is called Northern Ireland...Ireland is a different team altogether. I am not being political in what I say. That commentator has to be able to tell the difference between the two. I think an All Ireland team would do really good in soccer. I think you would agree on that .
