Overpopulation, and an economic system that is based on an ever increasing rate of consumption of resources will eventually cause some serious consequences. The trend can not continue, sooner or later we will collapse, or alter our reproductive behaviour and economic system, and your assumption that we will maintain or increase our level of control may be valid.

Are we going to remain even partially in control? Is medicine and genetic manipulation technology going to be readily available indefinitely? I think we are nearing an world wide economic collapse, and I think that with that economic collapse, everything will get more expensive, including medicine, transport and technology.

we may not be entirely in control - but the fact is in many ways natural selection as we traditionally understand it will not proceed quite the same as it has. science and medicine "protect" the sick and lame. genetic manipulation is fast becoming a reality. beyond that, even being "in control" isn't the entire basis of his reasoning.

evolution will continue to govern the trend of our biological nature for the next tens of millions of years. assuming we are in control of our biological future is a delusion.
