These trainers make me sick. They are so cheesy. These are apex predators who live in family groups with their own dialect, swim up to 100 miles a day, hunt seals, dolphins and squid. They don't belong in concrete tanks for human entertainment. If these trainers 'love' Orcas, why do they think this is acceptable? check out the new website VOICE OF THE ORCAS - it's been produced by 4 ex-trainers
They are being forsed to do tricks. If they where not hungry, they wouldn't want the gross dead fish they "treat " them with after doing what they "train " them to do..If they love them so much, they would study them in the wild. Not lock them up forever until they are dead.
I don't see how as this is something they have planned as children themselves. They are passionate about the orcas they work with. And I don't think money was what they thought of at 6 or 7 years old. No it was the amazing reality of being with these animals every day and working towards their goals. Sure they get paid. But that's just part of it right? You get paid to work at any job. The point is it's too late to undo whats been done and the orcas are in better hands under their care.
had a traumatic experience at Sealand which is why he has this knack for attacking the trainers. Unfortunately that trauma has stood with him all his years. And even though seaworld Orlando treats him waaay better than sealand ever did. I still think Tilikum has suffered a traumatic upbringing in his earlier captivity days and it remains with him. And unfortunately he took it out on Dawn. These trainers really do take great care of the orcas. And if you really think its all about money.
I think i may know why Tilikum did what he did to Dawn. I did further research on Tilikums history. Back in the day when Tilikum was brought to the first aquarium, sealand in Victoria Canada. They treated him with food deprivation. Which a lot of activists think of but actually is not practiced anymore. This was done when the orcas didn't do what was told. Also Tilikum was placed in the aquarium with 2 other orcas who were dangerous and often attacked him. I have a feeling Tilikum had a...cont
While the trainers might love these animals, it's clear they do not belong in captivity any longer. We've discovered they're highly intelligent, incredibly social, and of course, dangerous, to keep in these small, barren pools. Life in a tank, for them, is so unnatural - nothing like what they would be doing in the wild, swimming vast distances and interacting with their families.
This is just SO unnatural. These animals are HUNTERS....and you wonder why their lifespans are shortened by HALF in captivity....they are stuck in these little blue chlorinated pools. And he said "Its amazing how he can move all that weight around.." OF COURSE HE CAN! He's genetically built and engineered to hunt in the wild, moving at 35-40 mph....you just stuck him here so he has no choice but to swim in slow, small, circles.
