Incredible lesson !! This shows how the modes have to be related with the chords over changes to create great phrasing.Modal playing has to be understood to be applied there are many mode videos but this is the first one i have seen that demonstrates it as you playing over chords. Many guitarist know modes but do not apply them well>Your a great guitarist and this is a great lesson!!

it sounds like you really know what your talking about but i think for this to be a lesson you should at least explain how each mode relates, it seemed somewhat hard to follow, you were moving pretty quick. im good with modes, i knew the modes you were talking about because i love playing around with them, but i think you should explain a little more indepth how each one relates in what way. other than that great job!

POGEY RULES!
Practicing bach inventions and other popular melodies, memorizing all the arpeggio shapes over important chords, learning all the scales and relative modes, or hitting notes until they start sounding good - all different routes to the same thing. Right?

Absolutely! It is ultimately all the same thing. Crafting phrases out of notes that sound good, no matter the path to getting there. Learning from master composers like Bach is great.
The approach in this video lesson is only one of many ways I may try a solo or melody. I like to consider and attempt to understand as many ways in practice so that when I actually play, I can "forget" the theory and just flow, and hopefully I will have chosen the right notes to play at the time.

Thanks, Good point. This is actually Part 2 of the lesson. At around 1:15 of Part 1, I make mention of a few assumed prerequisites, and didn't go to into them here because it is primarily just a lesson on one particular way I like to shift around over keys, and not really a full mode study. However, you make an excellent point, and I think a video explaining more complex mode stuff in greater detail is a great idea. I'll put one together soon. I sincerely appreciate the feedback.
