  • I can tell you now, I do my best to take something from every martial artist I come across. They are all better than me in some way shape or form. I pick their brains and do my absolute best to improve my skills at every given opportunity. Martial Arts are a brotherhood. We all exist to help each other take our skills to the next rung on the ladder of excellence. As Bruce Lee said, "having no way as way, having no limitation as limitation." God Bless you sir!

  • What CTDJEVIN was trying to say, moreso than flaws, was that every technique has a counter, and there is a counter to the counter, and then there is a counter to that. That is the true beauty of the martial arts. Its a neverending PROCESS of learning and experimentation. One by which we improve ourselves as people and warriors. It seems sir, that you are intent on nitpicking the differences in our art and yours. Learn from other martial arts. It will serve you better in the long run.

  • @TheAwakener7, you do have a valid point in that the block does cross the centerline. I would however ask you, what prevents the artist from simply utilizing another block going in the opposite direction using the same arm? The primary prpose of the blocks that cross the centerline is to allow for the maximum shifting of your bodyweight GOING BACK to deliver a counterstrike. But if need be, you could shift back quickly and block any follow on attacks.

  • @theawakener7 - As my beginning students could tell you, this drill serves as a beginning. Every technique/principle taught by every martial art has counters and flaws, else I'd ask to be taught the ONE true technique and I'd only practice that. If you find yourself faced with an expert in anything they're going to give you problems. What does that prove?
