Thousands of French teachers and public sector workers have gone on strike in Paris to protest against job cuts and education reform. Estelle Youssouffa, Al Jazeera's correspondent reporting from Paris, draws on similarities from forty years ago when a social revolution shook the nation in the 1960s and education and reform thrived in the heart of French society. "May 68" was the year in which a series of student protests and a general strike caused the eventual collapse of the French government.

  • Did he just say SARKOZY is a product of May 68?1

  • Yeah, he did. Ridiculous, isn't it?! I think Glucksmann is a cheesy conformist who says in the disguise of a critic what the conservative french establishment wants to hear anyway. As a "philosopher" he is a complete fraud who uses every opportunity to flog his book.

Al-Jazeera have produced a rather sloppy report with this short clip. They could have found more credible and more interesting witnesses.

  • this report could have been a lot better

  • Estelle, you should have been able to find more credible sources than the phoney pseudo-philosopher André Glucksmann.
