@bollpwnbay Probably because Endgame was first written in French.

@bollpwnbay Beckett wrote a number of his plays (including Endgame) in French, and then rewrote them in English, usually after they had been performed in Paris, so Beckett is therefore just as influential a literary figure for the French as for us.

I really don't like the theater of the Absurd but I do like what it's trying to show everyone. Just finished Waiting for Godot in my world lit. class and discussion was rather interesting.

Non, vous n'êtes pas les seuls à avoir appris que Beckett détestait que les metteurs en scène soient indifèles à ses textes. D'ailleurs, si les didascalies sont aussi nombreuses dans l'oeuvre, ce n'est sûrement pas pour rien. Par ailleurs, le théâtre de Beckett est considéré comme appartenant au théâtre de l'absurde, mais lui même refusait cette appellation.

@eclatsdelune Faux. Beckett accordait une très grande importance à la mise en scène de ses œuvres. Il était très méticuleux et voulait que son idée soit respectée. Vous pouvez me croire je suis en terminale L et c'est une des œuvres au programme pour le baccalauréat de littérature.
