When I went to the SPCA the dogs were fur were mated dirty did not have there surgery yet and then small dogs you don't adopt them you buy them because the cost 300 dollars to adopt them that's not adopting thats buying. But the big dogs were lying in there own piss and shit but the cost 20 dollars that just no wright I can't have a big dog so I'm spend 300 dollars on the pspca who look like they treat there dogs like a puppymill

But if you don't buy the dog what happens to that dog my thing is if you only adopt dogs then the poor dogs in the pet stores have to stay in the small behind cages in the pet store were animal are treated better at a shelter showed love and pet store puppy's are not if the animal rescue centers did a good job busting the puppy mills we would not have this problem.

@gimkilo57 Definitely not giving them away for free. Some other steps need to be taken to make sure that they are going to a good home. There are many animal rescue organizations, even ones specifically for older dogs, that will probably work with them to make sure those older dogs get good homes.

@jojoneli76 well, what do you want them to do with the dogs?!
-
@gimkilo57 That's horrible if what you said is true on the last part....they give them away for free because they are old as if they are objects and not living beings. Those poor dogs...who knows what kind of people they are giving them away too.

Actually when it is all said and done any upstanding pet shop would not be buying from puppy or kitten mills but reputable proven breeders. Now I am not saying all pet shops do this, however if you are concerned ask for the breeders information. If a pet store is getting puppies from mills then they are not exactly a legal pet store.. Now if the puppy is being sold on the outside of the shop, or in a parking lot, those are probably your puppy mill puppies or accidental litters

You guys talking so patronizingly to everybody is going to encourage them to listen to you.
Where'd you get such skills of persuasion

1-there are many petshops where they take care of the puppies, and play with them walk them, etc... also the fact that many kids pass by helps cuzthe kids play with the dog.
2-dogs at petshops dont necessairly come from puppy mills, some come from owners who just gave their puppies to the petshop...
3-when the dogs arent sold and get older (again, it depends on the petshops) they just lower the price, or give them, free...

In my country there aren't, at least as far as I know, laws concerning animals, or protecting animals' rights. But in the countries where there are, where there is animal police and the works, aren't there laws also for traetment of animals in pet shops? If there are, why should people worry? If there aren't... why are there laws for the "households" and not for, say, shops?
Greets,
Niki
Pet Stores DON'T put puppies and dogs down if they aren't purchased. They just send them BACK to the puppy mill/broker/BYB or they dump it off at the shelter!
If you want to RESCUE a dog, go to a *RESCUE* group or shelter.

teen: you are absolutely WRONG. LIsten to the people who know: DON'T ever buy a pet from a pet store or online. Period.
I work in an animal shelter and see lots of dogs, cats, rabbits, etc. have to be killed because people like you insist on
"rescuing" a dog from a pet store instead of adopted sweet, wonderful pets from shelters or rescue groups.
You must not support the puppy breeding mill industry by buying a puppy or other pet. The money will just encourage them to breed more animals.
