Bear Baiting Tip #3: Honey Burn Bucket

Honey burns are a useful tool baiters can use to notify bears of a bait site from great distances and increase your opportunity to harvest a bear. Black bears have been known to detect carrion up to 20 miles away and have a nose that is 2100 times stronger than mans. This video is an overview of two honey burn buckets. The bear scent cooker (left) is a slow, honey burn ran by scent free candles. The Honey burn bucket (right) is a large volume, high output device used to get mass amount of scent into the woods in a short period of time.

@SequoiaCheyenne that's right. Bear baiting is a necessary tool to manage the predator populations especially in states like Alaska where there are no natural predators, few roads and thousands of bears.

going out on mysecond hunt in two weeks made one of these cans after seeing your video, i used a stainless sugar can from walmart just a size smaller then a paint can and just downsized the soup can as well, 3 tea lights was liquifying the honey at first so a few adjustments and a lower soup can and im ready to give it a go. you are absolutelly wonderful for posting your videos. i look forward o more.

Manitoba, canada. i have zero hit baits and im looking for  something that will get sweet smells to go long distances to bring em in. can i use just a propane burner and a can of honey?
