Dr. Jay Lindly discusses a three-year pilot study that analyzes past school bus accidents, examines data from overhead cameras on school buses for information about use of seat belts, and runs a cost-benefit study on what it would cost to add safety belts to all school buses in Alabama.

they forgot to mention how long it would take the driver of the bus to unbuckle Each of these seatbelts in an Emergency evacuation.. when there is absolutely no time to be doing this!

Seat belts on school buses are more like death traps for children. How can a driver cut the seat belts of all students (70+)while the bus is on fire (takes 2 minutes for a school bus to be fully engulfed)? I'm a California school bus driver who does have seat belts. I hope the day never comes that I have to pick who's going to live and who's going to die. Personally, I don't believe seat belts belong on school buses.

It's not that hard to understand that full working seatbelts are a necessity, but leave it to the University of Alabama to conduct a 3 year study on it
