Tis is Power Tight , Best I've heard in years and probably from 80's .These guys swing their tails and stiff it down the pike...

@grifgraf Yeah absolutely, and you can then have someone like Cannonball Adderley pretty much in tune and sounding as crispier and one can get.
Mind you, I like your comment and these 'sharp' saxophonists too.(i.e Mclean etc)
God bless

It's interesting how the baritone player is the same person David played with in Here and Gone. Men who know what they're doin'.
Cheers and RIP, Hank!

R.I.P, Hank.

This is the blues, baby! Shove the tuner up your ... what I mean to say is - blues is about EMOTION. Both these players ooze it. The both play sharp on purpose (ala Jackie McLean). It makes their tone sound brighter, crisper and more emotive.

Also if you listen real close - what is annoying you more likly is the ringing pitch in the reverb. Sax is a harmonic rich inst. so if the eq hits hard on the wrong feq. it changes the tone/pitch center of the player. that is why most sax player would rather not have to play in a mic. Also if you can't hear yourself well - you will overblow & there goes both tone & pitch.
thanx
