We're moving house at the moment, and the idea of destroying an old TV set was too good to pass up.

Of course, like many bits of hardware - a TV won't go down by being hit by the flat edge of a shovel.

in responce to other poster there is only realy phosphor that could be dangerous in very large quantitys, (apart from possible flying glass when tube implodes) maybe the lead in the glass or aquadag again if you like ate it or if you burn one complete the smoke from the plastic or circuit board may give you cancer if you breath it in for long enough.

You're actually lucky that the screen didn't bust open. TVs contain hazardous materials: large quantities of lead, phosphorous, cadmium, barium, and mercury.

Smashing of the TV will cause the toxins to be released into the surrounding area.

Great video. 5 stars cause it was so funny that the tv was like a brick lol against metal. Did you destroy it or just get rid of it? If you still have it make another video of yourself smashing it but this time use a rake, then a axe lol and see if that takes it out then use a sledge
