The point is not whether it is possible to believe that John Kerry might have done this, the point is whether or not there is any credible evidence that he did. There is not. And beyond that, the point Matthews is making is no one before Malkin had ever alleged that Kerry did this. She was floating her own rumor and trying to get away with weasel words and a non-attribution. Matthews was right to try and pin her down to a direct allegation, which she wisely refused to make.
