For more information regarding this series, please refer to the video description for "Bulletproof".

Here's the title track for Nick's album, now available on iTunes, through his website, etc. I spent a lot of time listening to the demo of this one, trying my best to find subtle and intriguing things to add. This video/tune is a pretty prime example of why my kit is set up and played in the fashion that I do as the verses are performed with a tight, syncopated feel on the 13" hats and the choruses are big and open, complemented with the 14" hats. This song's amazing!

Notes:
0:13 - Pitch bend on snare drum
0:33 - Gentle china strikes
0:34 - 0:36, 1:12 - 1:14 - Hi-hat accent changes briefly to complement guitar
Choruses - Played smacking the edge of the ride to lend a 'flowing and majestic' feel
2:35 - 2:38 - Eighth note displacement
2:58 - 3:01 - Drums complement guitar lick
3:56 - Big triplet on kick references the accents at 3:08 - 3:10

Ful drum set transcription:

  • @DrumDougDrum Thank you for both your gracious words and your reception! I gave them both thank-yous via Twitter; 'twas very kind and flattering of them to have mentioned me.

  • Travis ive been following your stuff for a while and man i have to say that you and your music have really inspired me to give more meaning to my music, so i have i will continue to follow your steps for you a inspring role model for me. im from guam so i dont really have much to go forth to in the music industries

  • @hirokijapaneseboy Thank you so much for your kind words and reception! Wow, a pleasant comment from Guam - thanks internets.

  • Travis do you have a big house?

  • @Tinaerwinboy I'm EXTREMELY fortunate in that there's a structure separate from my parents' house that contains my studio, my mother's business and a garage. My dad built it himself. I live a mere five minutes away in an apartment and can practice or record pretty much whenever I need to do so at said place. I am middle class -- probably bordering on lower middle class -- and was raised on debt like many Americans.
