Well kind of it has some parts of hapkido intergrated into it aswell as kuk sool won and judo, i study hapkido and there are many techniques which are the same but also some which are quite different.

alright im starting hapkido soon, i heard you get to use weapons sumtimes, and kick and punch and throw yay

Yes its true you learn how to catch kicks and punches and the manipulate joints so it really hurts! the higher grades genrally use weapons but good luck and i hope you enjoy it, oh stick with the first few months as you'll be learning the boring basics but it gets better once you hit yellow belt. :-)
