This song was made famous by Vera Lynn during World War II. Here it's used for soldiers from Charlie Company, 1/5 (Mech) Infantry, 25th Infantry Division using still photos from Vietnam and later from battalion reunions. All instrumentation and vocals are performed by yours truly, who is also a veteran of Charlie Company.

  • @ManOfRhythm I knew both Lang and Young.. And Tom Frame. Do you know Paul Moir? He was also there about that time. I'm at rhayes17@charter.net

  • @killercrabcake Thanks, Killer. Always nice to hear from a fellow Bobcat,

  • To all you old timers, it was an honor to follow in your footsteps... I served with 1/5 "Bobcats" in Iraq 2004-05..... GUNS UP! HOBO Basterds!!

  • @Ellipsis1771 Can't say I recognize anyone. I was also planning to stay a whole year, but took a bullet through my toes riding through an ambush, 3 Sept. 68. I was in Sgt Laing's platoon, Rex Young (E-5) was our squad leader. Both died 21 Aug 68 many others KIA and wounded that day in the rubber plantations in Tay Ning.

Took up music (percussion) shortly after discharge and never stopped. One of my vids took 1st place state and 2nd National for solo percussion. Click my tag to view it.

  • @ManOfRhythm Hi Man, I arrived in October 67 and they wouldn't let me leave for a whole year. =) Do any of the guys in the vid look familiar? Most of them were in 2d Platoon. I wrote a military memoir about that year that was published in 2000 by Presidio Press, titled On Point. I'm proud to report that it won the Army Historical Foundation's Distinguished Book Award.

And yes, that's me on vocals and instruments (two guitar parts and bass).

  • Hello my friend! What year did you serve in 'Nam? I was there from May-Sept. in '68 and was also in Charlie Company, 1st and 5th mech of the 25th infantry division. Was that you singing and playing? Sounds great! I saw your comment on a Joe Izen Trio video, so I clicked on your tag.
