The Republic of Serbia, as active part of the European community in youth policy field, had become the integral part of new flagship initiative of the Council of Europe's Secretary General - "Youth peace ambassadors". The project was inspired by the standards and achievements of the Council of Europe in protecting and promoting human rights, intercultural dialogue and democracy, with special emphasis on countries in transition that are in post-conflict period. The aim of the project is to give them the opportunity to make a concrete contribution to reconciliation, development of cooperation with other Member States of the Council of Europe, but also to enable them to be recognized as countries that promote positive values in the society.

First Regional Youth Peace Ambassadors conference "Through cooperation to joint future" is organized jointly by the NGO "Youth of Palilula" and "Regional Peace Institute", with the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sport of the Republic of Serbia.

The Conference will took place in a beautiful medieval town of Sremski Karlovci, Serbia, October 05-09, 2011. The official opening ceremony happened in the old Magistracy building, now a building of Sremski Karlovci municipality, Branka Radicevica square 1.

The conference will gather one representative from national institution in charge for youth and one representative from civil society sector/national youth councils from following countries -- Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia.

The main goal of this Conference was to develop the set of recommendations for future cooperation among SEE countries. Besides set of recommendations for future cooperation and ideas for joint projects, participants had a chance to get to know each other and to find out what is the situation in other countries regarding strategic and practical work within youth policy field as well to be updated about current state of the European youth policy.
