Track racing in Japan is often considered to be a world all confined in the professional world of keirin, where heavily trained bicyclists compete in a gambling arena.
Just as one would ride a mountain bike through a trail or a road bike through the busy city streets, keirin racers ride the designated "Keirin arena" with equitable enthusiasm.
However, these "Keirin arena" are for professional use only and rarely available to the public.

Providentially, the velodrome in the prefecture of Ishikawa (along the coast of the Sea of Japan) hosts designated periods when it is open to the public.
As the weekend training sessions of the professional riders stamp the authenticity of this bank, this arena provides the perfect opportunity for us city track racers to experience part of the keirin world.
