  • when you made camp, and chilled out for the night, any rangers come by and asked to see a permit??

  • @somanyrules212 only one time when I was near idyllwild, was I asked to see my thru-hike permit. I did show my paperwork to the border police when I came back into the states too.

  • Thanks everyone for all of the wonderful comments. I put these types of videos up here in hopes that maybe someone will watch them and it will start that little spark in them to get out and try something adventurous too. I am very glad to hear that you've all enjoyed these little slide-shows. I am already anxious to get out on another adventure.

  • I'm speechless, moved to tears. Your pictures are amazing and the scenery so beautiful. I've only been on a couple spots in OR, but you have given me something to think about. Thank you for sharing!

  • @fish5ski thank you for the kind words...glad you liked the video. It was an absolutely incredible journey. I thought after the AT and CT, and after hiking in New Zealand, that it couldn't possibly get any better. I was very wrong.

  • my PCT section hiking friend just sent this too me because a 2:05 its got the water marker I built so that people would know to go down trail to get water. Glad to see it was visible :)

  • @SDlobsterman I simply charged it fully in towns, and then used is sparingly a little each day or night until it died. then i just went without until the next town. I didn't have much luck with a solar charger on the AT, but they've come along way since. There were quite a few people that used them.

  • @johnfegy Thanks! How did you charge the Ipod? Solar Charger? Hoping to do a thorough hike myself one of these days!

  • @maddox019 yeah...that is a common question. That guy, trailname - Wander, carried a small oar the entire trail. it was sort of his "prop". he carried it on the Appalachian Trail as well. He's got a website out there somewhere that talks about it if you google it. It was just kind of his thing though....and we stopped asking him :-)

  • @SDlobsterman I carried a small book for some of the trail to read, but I spent most of the evening before sleeping writing my journal entries. Usually I was so tired by the time I made camp, that I crashed pretty quickly. I also had my ipod that I would often listen to for a few songs before falling asleep.

  • Awesome vid! Did you bring a kindle or anything to have to read?
