Adam
Blind Dog Rescue Alliance is thrilled to introduce our first foster dog, Adam, formerly Tex, of Georgia. He was in a shelter and out of time before one of our volunteers, Cheri, offered to foster him. Vice President Colleen immediately jumped in and arranged vetting, and transport from GA to his foster home in Wisconsin. Tex arrived safely, and received a new name, Adam. He is 1-3 years old, and couldn't be sweeter. He's a pointer mix. He is blind in one eye. He loves people, loves to play with other dogs (he traveled most of the way with another dog, Red), and would love a forever home. We are still getting to know Adam, so please check back soon. If you have any questions about Adam, please email us at info@blinddogrescue.com.
An update from Adam's foster mom:
Hi everyone. I am Adam's foster mom.
Sweet Sweet Adam, and he is just so very sweet, was not
feeling very well at all when he arrived. Still wanting to please and be close, but he had a
bad upper respiratory virus, very bad ear infection in both ears, and lastly
he was positive for Coccidia, whipworms and something called Lung Fluke,
which is parasites in his lungs ,so when he coughs they go into his system
and can be seen in a fecal. That one is not seen around here so much.
It will be two weeks this Sunday and he will finally be off some of his
medication, but not the panacur for the parasites. That will continue a few
more weeks.
In the vet visit we had Tuesday of this week, his ears look better, he is
not coughing, no discharge coming out of his nose and he got some eye drops
for that eye that was diagnosed with glaucoma. His left eye seems very good.
He will see the vet again in a week to evaluate how he is doing on the
drops...
New Update:
In order to prevent the respiratory virus from spreading, Adam was kept in isolation for a 2 week period. He now, however, is fully integrated into the household and his best friend is a blind boy named River.
He also enjoyed the company of a Sheltie puppy who was visiting for a few days.
If you have any questions about Adam please email his foster home.
