This was performed, with accompaniment by Dr. Douglas Major, during the National Service of Prayer and Remembrance following Sept 11. The song was composed by Albert Hay Malotte in 1935.

A studio recording is available here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001BKRY8Y and on itunes.

The entire service can be viewed and purchased here:

  • You can watch the whole service at the C-SPAN website, and Denyce's incredible version of "America the Beautiful" is at approx. 56:00 in.

Look for National Prayer Service Sep 14, 2001

Thanks Medusa. I've included a link in the video comments.

  • I recall she also performed a stirring "America the Beautiful" - - I think with acoustic guitar accompaniment - her husband.(?) Anyone know of a recording or video of that??

  • ABSOLUTELY EXQUISITE. I am Jewish but will start going to Church if I hear music sung like this!!!!!! You are beautiful and the most gorgeous voice in the world - so rich and warm. Thank you also for your kind FB friendship.

May G-d Bless you and yours always,
