Florida Hospital Flagler has equipped Flagler Countys EMS trucks and helicopters with 12-lead EKG equipment with the ability to transmit information in the field directly to our Emergency Department.

Without this equipment, if the EMS team responds to a patient experiencing a heart attack, they can perform a 12-lead EKG, but will have to wait until the patient arrives to provide the EKG information to the Emergency Department team.

With the new equipment, Florida Hospital Flaglers cardiac team can be activated, prepped and ready before the patient even arrives at the hospital.

This new project comes on the heels of Florida Hospital Flaglers recent construction and current upgrade of cardiac catheterization equipment, anticipated to offer Interventional Cardiac Catheterization procedures such as stents and angioplasties in the spring of 2010. In addition, Florida Hospital Flagler recently earned Chest Pain Accreditation credentials by the prestigious Society of Chest Pain Centers and built a 16-bed Progressive Care Unit in 2008 which will focus on caring for cardiac patients.

Combine all of these new services and accreditations, and you can clearly see Florida Hospital Flagler is actively pursuing the goal of increasing the lifesaving cardiac services to the residents of Flagler County, said David Ottati, Florida Hospital Flagler CEO.
