@geoff0529 nobody says anyone is the "wayne Gretzky of their sport" or the "michael jordan of their sport" because Babe Ruth transcended baseball. he saved the game when it was rocked by scandal. he changed baseball like no one has ever changed a sport. Gretzky was the greateset hockey player of all time, but he doesn't approach the legend that is Babe Ruth. people around hte world know Babe Ruth 77 years after he played. cant say that about the Great One

@ACDCFan38 but Ruth broke the record well before he reached 140 games. he crushed the record, Maris needed the last 8 games to break Ruth's record. but in my mind, Roger Maris is the single season record holder.

good footage of the babe. wonder if there's any footage of him pitching? he was quite svelte in the early years, even later he was nimble and agile for a big man. extremely talented.

Maris broke the record with an expanded season, but didn't Ruth have 14 more games in his season than the previous home run record holder? A season is a season in my book.
