This piano was part of my inspiration for the Adler 12-string bass. The second string from the left is Jauqo's C#0 string. I took along my Adler 12 just for fun. They are the only two acoustic string instruments with 97 notes.

The lower "octave zero" 9 notes are all black keys. The notes are clear and the pitch of each string is easy to identify. I have new types of wire being made that will allow bass guitar strings to have the same detail without being .3 in diameter. I think they will let me take the piano out the door for $150,000. Spending time playing these motes has really trained my ear to hear what these notes should sound like.

  • bujtu-My 12-string single course bass guitars have an open C0 string.

  • I originally posted this video to show bass guitar players that C0 and C#0 were indeed audible. In person, the piano sounds incredible. I wind strings for bas guitars that are made to tune to these notes. I used a small camcorder with a condenser mic to make this recording. You can hear the detail of the zero octave strings. As a culture, we don't listen to music played in this register, so it takes some listening to learn to hear this octave. The piano is amazing.

  • Everybody

This is about learning to hear octave zero and that such strings would not be on a piano costing over $100k if they couldn't be heard. This video(since some of you are too lazy to read the texto the right by clicking on"more info") is for bass guitarists who think the Jauqi III-X C#0 string is below the range of human hearing.

Pianoplayer UK needs to conside the source of negative comments. This video is for musicians with trained ear interested in sub bass notes for bass guitar.

  • Its amazing how many people out there feel qualified to lecture on audio dynamics after reading a couple of issues 'guitar weekly'

Public displays of Intellectual masturbation serve only to satisfy the minds of the ignorant and those who miss the point because of their own S'uperiority.'

  • I want to have sex with this piano.

  • @midkanzan - there are two true 64ft stops in the world, both reeds, one conventional (the Sydney Town Hall Hill), one diaphonic (the Atlantic City Convention Hall Midmer-Losh). There is no true 64ft flue, only quinted resultants. Speaking of which, the ACCH M-L also has a 42 2/3 extension of the diaphonic reed, allowing a 128ft effect (ie two octaves below C0).

  • @pianoplayeruk What exactly are you trying to say? The person who recorded this video never said that he/she was qualified nor was he trying to act so. He/she was only producing a small demonstration of the piano he/she has because he/she felt like it, you really need to take your condescending ego and shove up your high horses ass. If you’re going to watch their video, at least show some decency and respect, they never did anything to you. Not everyone here is as intelligent as you may be.

  • The most beautiful piano there is, Bösendorfer Model 290 "Black keys".

  • @bujtu1 Many pipe organs can reach C0. It is the bottom note of a 32' stop. At least 2 organs (that I know of) can reach an octave below C0, a 64' stop.

  • I am not worthy. I am not worthy. I am not worthy.

  • Only two instruments can play C0, it's piano and hyperbass flute. C0 waves only 16 times/second (16 hertz).

  • Wow great piano, the C0 string would be a standard in making horror movies and very-low pitched songs, and I love the color of the last few keys, very awesome, great video.

  • Stuart & Sons made a 102 key piano ( C0 - F8 !!! ).

But I think Bösendorfer is a wonderful piano, I have an old 1901 Bösendorfer in my workshop with the old wienesse action !! 268 cm long. Unique.

The Imperial is wonderfull, but the new 280 cm Bösendorfer which has 88 keys Standard better in trebble.... i think.

New Bösendorfers has pre duplex scale...
