But.... in reality they do. Well atleast athletes of the highest level. They usually had experience in traditional arts before the transition of mma. Anderson silva knew Tkd and muay thai for years, Rashad evans, knew sambo and wrestling, Gsp was a wrestler, Couture was a wrestler. True, a few punches and kicks doesn't cut it, but those individuals don't get far in neither traditional nor mma.

first of all Jeet Kune Do is a style without a style using different tools (punches kicks) in different situations(short version)...a tru MMA fighter should have mastered 2 or more fighting styles(kung fu, jiu jitsu, boxing), 'm not sayin that MMA is a joke but its not a fighting style and most of these MMA fighters are not true mixed martial artists,just because you learned a few kicks, punches, & grapples from diff styles does not make you a MMA...case in point Kimbo Slice!!!....
