I have a new, 30FPS video Camera, but I'm doing this video using my old 15FPS camera because I can't use the video the new camera does.

There is an error in the video. Microsoft Windows Movie Maker produces WMV files, not Quicktime type MOV files. But I think Windows Movie Maker will import MOV files. It even claims to import AVI files, but crashes when I try to import the files from my new camera.

I also give an example where a solution to this problem - the lack of good quality open source video editing tools that handle AVI files (or multiple video formats) - could encourage use of Open Source including Linux, if the problem has not been solved yet.

  • How do you open a JVC video camera without power? By the way, his right that it can't make sound because my friend has lots of new expenzive cameras and none of them have sound and I also have windows movie maker.

  • Check and see if you can buy an adapter for it; I found a 3rd party adapter on eBay for a laptop I was donated for $6 plus $10 shipping for a total of $16. If you have a camera that doesn't use a standard release button then you'll have to have power to open it. Usually you can open the camera but if it has a device to load tape or a DVD that device will require power to load or unload.

  • Two outputs on typical video camera:video & sound. If composite (RCA) there are 2 or 3; a yellow for video and a red and/or white depending on whether it has stereo sound. Both - or all 3 if it uses red AND white for sound - have to be received by the computer which would have to have some sort of mix cable to bring the sound in, most computers only support a 1/4 inch plug, not component video/audio. If it's a 5-pin video cable, that will only have video and it has another output for sound

  • Check to see if your software includes a converter for Microsoft Zune player; Microsoft Windows Movie Maker will read files formatted for the Zune. That's how I was able to convert them. As I note in a later video, I made a mistake as MSWMM doesn't handle MOV files, it handles WMV files.

  • I'm sorry for the disrespect but I was looking at your eyes the whole time!

  • I'm blind in my right eye.

  • how d you know what camera has avi?

  • MOV, AVI, WMV is a container only. AVI file may contain video compressed by xvid, divx, DV, x264 and other codecs. If you can't edit it or play your video properly get the right codec. Americans ...
