on wikipedia, i found out the crossing bell is a bit quicker. and your videos are awesome. i wonder who designed the gates?

@UltraJoosh - He is right. There is a crossing in my city that still uses a cantilever crossing setup similar to this. In fact, until about a year ago, it didnt even have gates.

Is that a Canadian gate? American signals are different from that.

Don't forget, just like everything else railroading, things change with time. This model of cantilever is representative of what was being produced during the late 70s and early 80s. These types of cantilevers are still around in some states. The crossbuck signs on the other hand certainly are Canadian. Canadian signals usually have the # of tracks sign under the lights, where american railroads favor to place the sign between the crossbuck and lights.

So you're saying that the gates are American but the crossbuck is Canadian?
UltraJoosh 2 years ago
Yes, that's right. The US and Canada both follow AREMA standards on signal equipment.
Canada changed from a crossbuck with words to a crossbuck with a red-border graphic in 1984. The word "TRACKS" in the # of track sign is now a track graphic as well. These changes allowed for common symbolic signs since Canada has English and French as official languages.

Does Signalogic still make the signals? I went on their website and all I can find is the electronic components.

No, I'm afraid the signals aren't offered right now. However, I know that they are looking at ways to bring these signals to a mass production. Right now construction of the signals is too time consuming and thus prohibitive.
