I used to build these. They run software called MaxSIM VCS. At the time the TTS system ran on Windows 2000 and used software from Rhetorical Systems. The voice recognition system was from Nuance. The rack mounted image generators were Quantum3D AAlchemy running specia 3DFX based boards with 8 to 16 video chips per board. Projectors mounted under the screens and pointed up at a diagonal angle. The server ran Linux and fed image data into the image generators.

We have these at our local college and I've trained on them, they are simply amazing, we have wraparound 55" monitors though
