Today's tip: KEEP THE BALL HIGH ON REBOUNDS! Offensive rebounds are a very good opportunity to get a second attempt at scoring, so you want to take full advantage. If you bring the ball down (below head-level) then you open yourself up to having it knocked away by your defender (or the little guys swooping in to snag the ball) and it will take a bit longer to get the ball back up again and get it off. If you keep it HIGH, then they don't have a chance to knock the ball out and you can get it off MUCH QUICKER! Keep it high and less things can go wrong. Keep it HIGH and get the SCORE!!

  • im going to try out for my jr.high basketball team but im a short 5'4 and compard to them if i hold the ball over my head they could just reach down i repeat down to get the ball anyother tips

  • @TheMjdancer1 Move with the ball as soon as you get the rebound to get away from the bigger guys.

  • and if that move doesent work go to plan b,play dead or hammer them in the nuts

  • @TheMjdancer1 ehhhhh, we'd suggest drawing contact and getting to the foul line...

  • @criticaldoza there isn't a "below the hand zone" because all the little guards will be poking at any ball that come down below your chin. Keep it high and go right back up, or throw in a ball fake and right up. So many things can go wrong if you take the time to drop the dribble and try to go back up.

  • @PianoByEar1110 You are thinking about 1/2 court games here!

  • @ShotScience What if it touches the rim? You can't shoot it back up if it does? Don't you have to "take it back" or that's only half court games? (Haven't played for a while season starts soon!)

  • Hi shotscience, I am a small (5'6"), but I also have a pretty good jump and can reach just under the ring. I tend to grab the ball and hold it low because then I'm below the hands area, then power dribble and then go for the reverse layup. I find if I keep it high then I'm just risking getting blocked straight off the rebound.
