Hob Osterlund and Val Gebert perform their Hog Island version of Camelot adapted during the 2011 Joy of Birding session at the Audubon Camp in Maine.
It's true! It's true! Steve Kress has made it clear.
Hog Island must be perfect every year.
A law was made in 1936 here:
The month of June will never be too hot.
And there's a legal limit to the rain here.
Hog Island Maine
The Titmice stay around until December
Puffins return May second on the dot.
And strangely eagles linger through September
Hog Island, Maine
Comorant! Guillemot!
We know they sound a bit bizarre,
But Laughing Gulls, Yellow-rumps
Those are the birds we sawre
The rain may never fall till after sunrise.
By noon, the morning fog must disappear.
In short, there's simply not
A more congenial spot
For Eastern Egg Rock Puffin sighting here
Hog Island, Maine!
Bobolink! Razorbill!
All of our hiking boots get wet
But Hog Island Maine on SnowGoose 3
That's how conditions get
The salad bar may run out of tomatoes.
By eight p.m. the birdlist must be done.
In short, there's simply not
A more fine-feathered spot
For five fun days with "Joy of Birding"
In Hog Island!
I will never, ever be able to listen to "Camelot" again without thinking of you two and the great week we had together!
Awesome job, Hob & Val!!!
