Lyrics below -

Parched land no desert sand, sun is just a dot
And a little bit of water goes a long way, 'cause it's hot
Three good buddies were laughing and smoking in the back
Of a rented Ford
They couldn't know they weren't going far

Each one with the money in his pocket
Could go out and buy himself a brand new car
But they all held the money they had
Money they hoped would take them very far

The sky was bright, a traffic light, now and then a truck
And they hadn't seen a cop around all day (what luck!)
They brought everything they needed
Bags and scales to weigh the stuff
The driver said the border's just over the bluff

It wasn't until the car suddenly stopped
In the middle of a cold and barren plain
And the other guy turned and spilled
Three boys' blood, did they know a trap had been lain?

They're okay the last days of May, but I'll be breathing dry air
I'm leaving soon, the others are already there
Would you be interested in coming along, instead of staying here?
It's said the West is nice this time of year, that's what they say

  • My favorite BOC cut. What a great song to listen to during the long trip driving Vegas on a moon lit night. "It's said the West is nice this time of year, that's what they say"

  • I've seen BOC 7 times and since the 4th time I saw them, they've played this song. Buck's up there but he can still shred.

  • @Nevarrus the singer is the narc. pretty cool ending..

  • I love this, having only heard the live version for 30 plus years. The live and canned versions are unique and brilliant unto themselves. Apart from "Sympathy for the Devil", I can't think of another example that exhibits such an amazing duality.

  • This one live is one of my all time best experiences

  • Awesome guitar. Love it!!!

  • Most awesome music from the forgotten age of guitar rock. Won't someone bring back guitar rock, the way it was meant to be played, with a fuzzbox, wahwah, and lots of tubes and cardboard speakers? All musician and analog stuff, and leave the computer at home!

  • Amazingly' Beautiful song.

The last lines is a real ponder'er though...

    Mystic.
