I'm playing "The Lover's Waltz" on violin with Wanda Stubbart, a Saturday Music Club guest, playing piano. This performance was taped during the cultural talent show at PASCO's dinner fundraiser event held on October 25, 2008.

Props to Jay Ungar and Molly Mason for writing this beautiful song. For anyone interested in buying the sheet music-- Here is the link to Jay and Molly's home page where you can buy the Lead Sheets in PDF format.

About the music:
The Lover's Waltz- Composed and arranged by Jay Ungar and Molly Mason, this beautiful, romantic waltz is the title cut of their critically acclaimed CD on Angel Records. This melody has become one of their most requested tunes in concert. The song is often performed for weddings. The theme presents 3 times through the song, beginning in G and modulating D.

About the composer:
Jay Ungar is nationally recognized for having composed and performed Ashokan Farewell, the Grammy-winning and Emmy-nominated theme song of Ken Burns' PBS documentary series, "The Civil War."

  • Wow, it's wonderful! In the Moment i'm learning to play the Violine. I tought it looks Simple, but it's much harder than it seems! I hope

  • Excellent job!

  • I have heard this played on A Prairie Home Companion, it is a beautiful song, magnificently done. Thank you for sharing, makes me wish I'd lived during the Civil War period.

  • sounds awesome I am currently trascribing this music from violin to viola so that I can play it on my viola. it sounds awesome!!

  • tarainalaska, can't you just listen to it and play it by ear? That's the best way, because you put more into it. Someone who can play only from sheet music is like a person who can talk only when he reads a book.

  • Nice. Would like to see you put a little more "soul" and double stops into it. Nice sounding axe you have there. Make it cry.
