Back with another (unexpected) longplay, this is me running through the original NES Castlevania game without continuing. It should be noted that the commentary portion of the video only lasts for the first 30 minutes--The hour after that point is simply me attempting the second and third loops of this game. I manage to finish the second loop (albeit with a lot of trouble as it's significantly more difficult), and I get about halfway through the third loop.

What sparked this longplay is the following thread over at AtariAge:

  • Have you done a longplay on castlevania legacy of darkness? That would be interesting

  • @MrBw1982 I haven't. It would be interesting to do so, but I try to keep the longplays relegated to games I can finish in under 90 minutes or so.

  • Amazing skills

  • @Legion2000 lol... thanks. :D

  • Excellent run through the game as it was entertaining as always.

I just wanted to comment on another alteration to the sound effects on the emulated Wii Virtual Console version.

I couldn’t help but notice, that, in addition to the sound effect that plays as you’re falling down the pit to the cavern stage, the noise is slightly different when you are whipping those “double dragon heads” that spit fireballs.

If you listen carefully as you hit them, the sound is off ever so slightly.

  • @equinoxfan82 Thank you.

I didn't personally notice the bone pillar sound difference, but I will have to go back and compare notes. ;)

No problem. I’ve played the NES game for I don’t even know how many years now, and stuff like that just really jumps out at me.

Thanks again for the video. I really appreciate all of the work you put into your videos!

  • @implantgames That was probably a bit of luck, but I guess it worked out in the end, eh? ;)

  • @toptenmaterial No problem man! :D

  • @siebensiegel Haha, I understand. I can't really pinpoint a favorite (ok, ok.. Castlevania IV ;), but I love the oldschool Castlevania games! :)
